NORWICH - Students in the DCMO BOCES Welding program at Alan D. Pole Campus wrapped up a busy year working on a project for the Chenango County Agricultural Society, operators of the Chenango County Fair.

The students made metal animal silhouettes that will be placed around the fairgrounds. The students operated a CNC plasma table in the welding lab at the school, cutting the animal shapes out, then cold-formed the stakes and welded them on. They then did a final cleanup with wire wheels for allow for painting.

Senior Zachary Cummings designed large cow and horse figures using CAD software, and, because of the size of the two pieces, White’s Welding and Custom Cutting of Edmeston let him use their CNC machine to cut them. In addition to helping with this project, White’s Welding has hired Zachary to work for them.
