SHERBURNE – On a wet Wednesday evening, the Norwich and Sherburne-Earlville PONY League teams squared off for a local county match-up. Both teams showing toughness in their previous wins to come out competitive in this game. It was a back-and-forth affair to start, but then Norwich kicked it up a notch in the latter part of the game to win 18-10.

Norwich got on the board early in the top of the first inning with two outs. Pierce Sherman singled and then Luke Waters reached base on an error. Both Sherman and Waters scored during Blayne Sutton’s at bat off a wild pitch and an error. With Norwich up 2-0, S-E tied the game in the bottom half of the first with two steals of home.

Norwich went ahead 3-2 on a groundout RBI by Pierce Sherman, who went 3-for-4 with two singles and a double at the plate. Aside from Sherman, everyone in the Norwich lineup had at least one hit. Gavin Burrell stole three bases and went 3-for-4, including a triple. Bo Brown led the team with four stolen bases as Sherman, Brooks Boland, and Thomas O’Connor each drove in two runs.
