PONY League Baseball: UV Earns Second Win Of Season; Defeats Worcester

WORCESTER – Coming off a tough game against Cooperstown, the Unadilla Valley Storm PONY League team traveled to Worcester, where they won 15-9 after once being down 9-6. UV has two wins through three games played thus far into the season.

UV went on the board first off an error and an RBI single from Nolan Lewis, who has been solid at the plate for the Storm in the last few games. Worcester got one back in the bottom of the first before UV extended their lead in the top of the third. UV added four runs in the inning with a bases loaded walk and passed ball each driving in a run before Shyla Roberts drove in two on a bunt single to first.

With UV up 6-1, Worcester battled back in the bottom of the third with an eight-run inning to take a 9-6 lead. UV then scored nine unanswered runs to secure the 15-9 victory and kept Worcester off the board for the remainder of the contest.

UV scored 15 runs on four hits. Shyla Roberts, Nolan Lewis, Zayne Dibbell, and Declan Potter each had a hit. Each had at least one RBI aside from Roberts’ two-run single. UV also drew 15 walks with Urijah Drake and Paul Ruffles each reaching base three times.
