SHERBURNE - This week, Commerce Chenango would like to highlight Hillcrest Lavender Farm in Sherburne, founded in 2017.

Owners Eric and Kathy Turner said they are very dedicated to Sherburne. Eric was born and raised here and Kathy live most her life here, more than 37 years.

Story Continues Below Adverts

Eric stated, “As lifelong members of our local community, we pride ourselves on our customer-oriented approach and creating the best possible experience for all our visitors. We offer u-pick lavender along with lavender products produced onsite.”

Located on a hilltop overlooking Sherburne, Hillcrest Lavender offers a one-of-a-kind view of the Chenango Valley. This past year, the Turners fulfilled their vision of adding a gazebo to their field.

One of Turner’s favorite memories as a business owner is having a group of college friends, that are now adults with jobs around the country, meet yearly in the area. Turner states, “They make a point of visiting the farm each year.”

The farm distills its own essential oil onsite, and offers goods made of the oil and dried lavender in their year-round gift shop. The Turners enjoy chatting with customers to forge a personal connection. Customers have compared their farm to the beautiful lavender fields of France by people who have visited France, and people who have lived there. They consider this a great honor.

Turner is proud of the fact that his lavender farm is a unique experience for Chenango County, “When visiting you feel as if you are way out in the country but in reality, you are only a mile from the village. We offer U-Pick in season which brings many people to the area. We allow photographers, special events, and workshops on the property. We always encourage our visitors to check out all other local business and attractions.”

Hillcrest Lavender has several workshops and events scheduled on their website with more to come throughout the year. The farm is currently open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. To 5 p.m. To see the best time to visit, go to www.hillcrestlavenderfarm.com or visit their Facebook page.
