EDMESTON – After a short break in the schedule, the Norwich PONY league team resumed summer play on the road against Edmeston. It was a consistent game for both teams, but Edmeston went ahead for good in the bottom of the third inning to pick up the 8-3 victory.
Norwich won the first match-up between these two teams on June 20 with a 7-6 win and split the two-game set after Monday’s loss.
Edmeston scored two runs in the first inning before Norwich tied and went ahead 3-2 in the top of the second. With two runners on from walks, Pierce Sherman drove in a run on a bunt, which ended up sending him to second base off an error. The same error plated another run.
Edmeston regained the lead in the bottom of the third and held it from there as Norwich failed to score any other runs. Norwich scored three runs on five hits with two hits from Gavin Burrell and Noah Eddy and one from Sherman. Eddy also stole two bases. Norwich also drew eight walks with three walks to Bray Lawrence.
