OXFORD - The recently concluded Shear Success Sheep Showing and Fitting Clinic, hosted by Chenango County 4-H and Otsego County 4-H left participants buzzing with excitement and armed with newfound skills to elevate their sheep showcasing techniques.
Held on June 20th, the clinic brought together a group of 18 young sheep enthusiasts ages 5-18 eager to enhance their expertise in preparing and presenting sheep for competitions.
Throughout the clinic, attendees were encouraged to learn hands-on. From hands-on fitting and grooming to in-depth showmanship tips, participants were able to learn how to get their lambs ready for the ring.
One of the highlights of the clinic was the sense of community and camaraderie that permeated the event. Participants not only learned from the instructors and seasoned 4-Hers but also had the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals, sharing experiences, insights, and a passion for all things sheep-related.
"We were thrilled to see the enthusiasm and dedication of all the participants during the clinic," said Victoria Ryan, Animal Science and Agriculture 4-H Educator at CCE Chenango. "It's inspiring to witness individuals coming together to hone their skills and
support each other in their industry. It was also amazing to see youth from 4 different counties come together, network and learn from each other."
As the clinic concluded, attendees left with a newfound sense of confidence and readiness to conquer the show ring. Armed with techniques and knowledge, they are now better equipped to showcase their sheep with style, precision, and flair.
