OXFORD – On Friday night, the Oxford and Sherburne-Earlville PONY League teams faced off in a local county match-up. These two teams met in late June, where S-E won 11-2. However, this time, Oxford pulled out the 11-2 victory to split the two-game set. With this win, Oxford has now won four straight since the loss to S-E.
Oxford didn’t take long to get on the board as they scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning. Bodie Barrows drove in two runs on a single to center field before two straight walks loaded the bases with two outs for Degan Endress.
Endress cleared the bases with a single to center field. Endress advanced to third on a two base error before scoring on another error.
The Blackhawks extended their lead in the bottom of the third with a bases-loaded walk and an error. Oxford scored two final runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as Nic Dodzweit drove in a run on an RBI single and scored on Brent Hamilton’s RBI double. Dodzweit, along with Blake Barrows, stole two bases. Blake Barrows had a groundout RBI to cap off the scoring for Oxford.
