OXFORD – Oxford Academy and Central School District is undergoing several leadership shifts ahead of the 2024 to 2025 academic year.

Oxford’s new superintendent, Nicholas Colosi, began his tenure in early July. He replaces the district’s interim superintendent, Terrance Dougherty.

Colosi previously served as the superintendent of Afton Central School District for two years. He also participated in a development program through the New York State Council of School Superintendents. Colosi explained that, as the new superintendent of Oxford, he has several responsibilities within the district.

“A superintendent serves a lot of roles. For me, it’s my job to oversee instruction and curriculum at a high level to ensure we are getting the best results for our students and help teachers perform their best by providing them with the support they need,” he said. “I also help manage finances for the district, work with the board of education to establish policy and have a communication component to support our community.”

Colosi said he has one primary focus as he begins his new position – the students.

“The priority is always students. That’s what we’re here for, and I always look forward to doing the best we can do as a team – we’re all in this together,” he said. “You hear the adage, ‘it takes a village.’ Well the school is the hub of the community, so putting the proper resources and effort so our students can be successful is important.”
