WHITNEY POINT – After their first game was suspended from June 17, the Sherburne-Earlville and Whitney Point PONY League teams finished the first and played a full game to round out the two game-set. S-E took both games on Wednesday night with breaking the 7-7 tie in the bottom of the eighth to win 8-7 and won 19-3 through six innings in the second game.
In the resumed game, S-E started with a runner on first base and one out. Cooper Thorpe grounded out to the pitcher, but Jay Tackabury, who reached on a hit by pitch and stole second base, sped in to score the game-winning run.
S-E was down 3-0 early on in the second game, but had two big innings to get them fired up. They scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning, including Cooper Thorpe’s two-run triple. S-E added three more runs in the top of the fifth inning, but really put a dent in the game with a 10-run sixth to end it.
