SHERBURNE – With the regular season winding down in the Otsenango PONY League, the Sherburne-Earlville summer ball team made up its series with Edmeston on Friday night. The teams played two five inning games, which Edmeston took both victories to move ahead behind Oxford in the standings.

In game one, Edmeston defeated S-E on a walk-off misplay in the bottom of the fifth with the game tied at two. Edmeston won 3-2 and had plated a run in the first inning before S-E tied and went ahead. S-E scored their only two runs in the top of the second inning off bases-loaded walks. Edmeston had tied the game in the bottom of the third and went on to win in the fifth.

S-E was held to only one hit in the first game as Haden Holcomb hit a single to right field in the top of the fourth inning. S-E also reached base six times with walks as Nolan Sigman and Lucas Newman both walked twice. Holcomb, Tomek Jusianiec, and Kaiden Briggs each stole two bases of the team’s total of eight.
