NORWICH — The Impact Project and Family Life Network present a free community concert featuring National Billboard Artist Josh Wilson in a solo performance at 4 p.m., Sunday, July 28, in East Park located at 15 East Park Place.

According to the Impact Project Facebook page Texas native Josh Wilson started playing piano at nine and guitar and drums at ten. He continued playing through high school and eventually started writing songs at Nashville's Belmont University.

His career includes performances with Casting Crowns, Steven Curtis Chapman and other Christian artists. He’s known for playing up to 20 instruments on stage and continually writes and records while touring.

Story Continues Below Adverts

Wilson achieved his first record deal with Sparrow in 2006 and songs included top billboard hits such as “Savior Please,” “Dream Small” and “I Refuse.”

However, with his introverted personality, sobriety issues evolved leading to hardships within his creative process. Yet, it appeared to Wilson plans were laid out and he gives God all the glory for now being seven years sober.

He stated on his Facebook page he couldn’t have gotten sober without Jesus and his addiction counselor. He had tried for years on his own but nothing was working for him. It was when he brought his addiction out, everything changed and he noted there is hope but it won’t be easy. He said tell someone, tell God, tell a good friend.
