NORWICH — This Friday, the Norwich Theater Company will bring to life Dolly Parton's "9 to 5: The Musical." The musical is based on the 20th Century Studios motion picture of the same name, with the script by Patricia Resnick.

Set in 1979, it follows three women – Violet, Doralee, and Judy – who team up to overcome their sexist and egotistical boss. Tired of their mundane routine and mistreatment in the office, they hatch a plan to turn the tables and give their workplace a much-needed dose of justice. "9 to 5" is a celebration of friendship, empowerment, and the pursuit of a fair and equal working environment.

The show will be performed on Friday, July 26 at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 27 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, July 28 at 2 p.m. at the Martin W. Kappel theater in the Chenango Arts Council, located at 27 West Main Street in Norwich.
