OXFORD – After winning the Division ‘A’ title, the Oxford Blackhawks PONY League baseball team hosted Division ‘C’ Delhi for the quarterfinals. Oxford was currently on a six-game win streak and were hopeful to have their hard work pay off to advance to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, Delhi spoiled their chances as they hit the ball well and took the 18-10 win. Oxford stayed up with Delhi in the latter part of the game after a slow start.
Down 15-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Oxford got on the board with four runs to spark the offense. Conner Dunagan was the first base runner of the night for the Blackhawks as he was hit by the pitch to lead off the inning. He advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole third base. Delhi made a pitching change before Nic Dodzweit stepped up to the plate. Dodzweit, who has been hitting the ball well all summer, drilled a ball down the right field line for a double on the second pitch he saw.
Brent Hamilton followed with his own hard hit ball to right field to bring in Dodzweit. Uri Tracy drove in Hamilton with a single to left. Tracy went to second base on a wild pitch before stealing third base and scoring on a steal of home.
