NORWICH – The final two rounds of the 66th annual Canasawacta Country Club member-guest tournament were held over the weekend and it was a battle to the finish on Saturday’s final day.
The 2024 and 66th tournament champions were Ryan Johnson and CJ Krowiak, who were the second to last to tee off in the Masters flight.
This was Ryan Johnson’s second win, after he and Nicholas Barney won it in 2019, but this was CJ Krowiak’s first.
After the first two rounds, Nathan Scheer and Joe Mioduszewski held a one stroke lead over the 2023 champions Lee Skillin and Jim Gorski and Ryan Johnson and CJ Krowiak, who both were tied at seven under par. Friday’s second round, which determined the flights, had two stoppages of play with the thunderstorm, which also happened in 2023. Otherwise, the golfers played in the hot sun with some light rain on Saturday as well.
It was anyone’s game on Saturday as the Master’s flight teed off at 1:30 p.m. Aside from the three close teams, Bob Branham/Mike Branham were two strokes back. Josh Bennett/Matt Morley were behind them at five under par as Stu Hughes and Derek Hughes were tied with Tim Carson and Scott Seiler at four under.
Brevin Bennett, who joined the tournament this year at age 13, and Justin Bennett were tied with Bob Adsit and Dave Cappadonia at three under par prior to Saturday’s final round.
