NORWICH — The NBT Bank Free Summer Concert Series continues on Thursday, August 8 at 7 p.m. with a performance by returning band The Garcia Project in Norwich's East Park.

The Garcia Project is no stranger to the East Park Stage, with Thursday's performance marking their fifth consecutive year in the Summer Concert Series.

Described by the Chenango Blues Association as "more than just a Jerry Garcia Band tribute band or Jerry Garcia cover band," The Garcia Project covers classic Jerry Garcia Band set lists from 1976 to 1995 "using thoughtful arrangements and the proper instrumentation and feel for any and all given eras."

"The Garcia Project faithfully channels and projects the feelings, emotions and music that propelled the Jerry Garcia Band and their fans through many years of musical bliss. It’s about family, soul searching, rejoicing, contemplating, celebrating, seeking truth and loving one another."

Thursday's performance marks the fifth week of free concerts in East Park. Coming up in the Summer Concert Series is the Blood Brothers on August 15, with an opening set by Los Blancos at 6:30 p.m.; Sam Bush on August 22; and Keller Williams on August 29.

Shows begin at 7 p.m. in East Park, rain or shine. In the event of potentially dangerous weather, concerts may be moved to an alternate location. Updates will be posted on the Chenango Blues Association Facebook page and ChenangoBluesFest.org by noon on the performance date.
