SOUTH NEW BERLIN – It has been a close battle for the top spot between three teams lately in the South New Berlin Horseshoe Club.
As of July 31, Rustic Ridge, who had been in the second spot, slid past Potter’s Tires by a half of a game. Potter’s Tires (Billy Schermerhorn/John Edwards) stayed put at 38-10 for the week as Ron Anderson and George Hanslmaier picked up enough points to go ahead with a 38.5-13.5 record. Even though it could be a brief lead, it was the first lead change since play resumed on July 10.
Prolifiq Sign Studio (Tresta Smith/Kate Lloyd) moved up one spot into third place and show that they could be contenders once again as they themselves held a brief lead at the start of the season. They sit about two games back while Webster Paving (Ed Webster/Bob Wells) are on their tail in fourth place. Kelly’s Flowers (Ed Kohler/Lee Coon) round out the top five teams.
Potter’s Tires swept all team leaderboards for the week while Billy Schermerhorn took the high men’s singles over teammate John Edwards (69) and Ron Anderson (64) with a 70. John Edwards swapped places with Schemerhorn for the men’s high series with a 193 over Schermerhorn’s 186 and Anderson’s 171.
Kate Lloyd won both the women’s high singles and high series over Sheryl Thurston and Lloyd’s teammate Tresta Smith. Lloyd had a high singles of a 62 while finishing with a high series of a 171.
The South New Berlin Horseshoe Club meets every Wednesday night until the season concludes.
