NORWICH — Recently, an evening of celebration took place at the Canasawacta Country Club, marking the 100th year of the Norwich Rotary Club.

Master of Ceremonies Chris Smith, welcomed guests on behalf of the club and several former club members attended, as well as Rotarians from Sherburne, Oneonta, Milton, Ithaca and Owego.

“Other local organizations represented were Fostering Futures and Aunt Mary’s House, both of which Norwich Rotary Club worked with recently on major projects, and Chenango County Historical Society,” said Norwich Rotary Club President, Catrina Ruling.

She said city council member Robert Jeffrey was in attendance and represented the City of Norwich. He read a proclamation from the City of Norwich, thanking the club for its “Outstanding contribution to our community”.

Ruling noted former Club President Ann Smith led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Pastor Jen Westervelt of CV Free Church, who gave the invocation.

“Westervelt gave thanks to the service of previous Norwich Rotarians and recognized the club’s commitment to service and community improvement,” she added.
