NORWICH – Federal investigators, along with elements of local law enforcement, were spotted conducting an operation in downtown Norwich on Tuesday.
Residents said a number of officers in tactical gear were on scene. FBI Albany Office Public Affairs Specialist Sarah Ruane said an investigation was ongoing and could not comment further.
“I can confirm FBI Albany personnel were at an address on Broad Street in Norwich on Tuesday August 6th conducting law enforcement activity in connection with an ongoing federal investigation. As the investigation is ongoing, DOJ policy prevents the FBI from commenting further,” reported Ruane.
Norwich Police Chief Reuben Roach also confirmed the NPD assisted federal investigators and said the department was glad to help. He declined further comment.
