OTSEGO COUNTY – A Town of Preston man has been arrested by Otsego County law enforcement and now faces multiple burglary charges stemming from investigations in Otsego and Chenango counties.
The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Nicholas Harrington on Aug. 6 after police say he entered a barn in the Town of Butternuts and stole a Can-Am ATV, along with several cans of gasoline. Investigators say Harrington loaded the ATV into the bed of a white Dodge pick-up truck, consistent with similar crimes allegedly committed in Chenango County.
Deputies located Harrington in the Village of Morris after executing a search warrant at a residence. He was taken into custody on pending charges from the Town of Butternuts as well as three active warrants out of Chenango County.
Investigators also found previously reported stolen items at the residence, in addition to a white Dodge pick-up truck thought to be stolen from another county.
Harrington has been charged with several counts of burglary in two Otsego County townships. In the Town of Butternuts: Third degree burglary, third degree grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in the second and third degree.
In the Town of Morris: Criminal possession of stolen property in the second, third and fourth degree.
Harrington was processed at the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office and, after appearance in a centralized arraignment, sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail or $100,000 surety bond.
