NORWICH – On Saturday, August 10, the 8th annual Savannah Marie Williams Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament, BBQ, and band event was held at the Canasawacta Country Club. This event continues to run in the memory of Savannah Williams, who tragically passed away in 2016.
The Williams family established a scholarship in Savannah’s memory, where two seniors receive $2000 for good grades, giving back to the community, being a student-athlete and are going to college following high school. The scholarship was worth $1500 for the past three years, jumping up from $1000, but the amount was raised, showing the success of the tournament, which last year, raised over $11,000, and from other donations.
18 teams played 18 holes of golf in such beautiful weather with the sun shining. Team Walling came out on top in the fun event for a great cause.
Following the tournament, golfers, their guests, and even the public were invited and enjoyed a BBQ and entertainment from the Beadle Brothers at the Country Club’s Pavilion.
The Williams family, along with the Savannah Marie Williams Scholarship Committee, thanks everyone for their support.
