NORWICH – A Town of Norwich resident is facing several felony charges after he allegedly engaged in sexual relations with an underage girl, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.
Members of the sheriff’s office’s detective division arrested Nicolas E. Arter, 24, of Norwich after a three-month-long sex abuse investigation. Detectives received several complaints involving Arter engaging in sexual relations with a number of underage girls.
Arter was charged with second degree rape, a class D felony, second degree engaging in a criminal sexual act, a class D felony, first degree sexual abuse, a class D felony, two counts of first degree disseminating indecent material to minors, a class D felony, eight counts of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, a class E felony and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
According to Lieutenant Jeffrey Barton, all charges pertain to one victim, though the investigation is still ongoing.
Arter was arrested for the above charges and arraigned in Chenango County Centralized Arraignment. He was then placed in the custody of the Chenango County Correctional Division on a $10,000 cash bail or a $20,000 bond and $50,000 partially secured.
Arter will appear in the Village of Oxford Court at a later date.
