NEW BERLIN — The New Berlin Cultural Center (NBCC) Summer Youth Program is striving once again to bring a blend of activities such as dance, exercise, art and healthy meals to children in the area, ensuring a positive environment for all participants and team members.
Youth team member Ryoko Lewis and NBCC Director Andreia “Miss Andreia” Keller were joined by additional members Micelaina Velarda, Dee Stein, and Elizabeth Crawford to incorporate yoga and a creative art course into the program's curriculum.
This year's program, designed for youth ages eight through 12, started on July 25 and ends this week on Thursday, August 15, with participants auctioning off a few of their creative art pieces at a “Tiny Auction” held at 6 p.m., at the Masonic Lodge, located on North Main Street.
“Auction prices will start at 25 cents and students can be awarded up to $10 in cash and prizes for their art,” said Keller. “Any amount above that $10 threshold will be considered a free-will donation to the New Berlin Cultural Center.”
Keller said she assisted the students in creating individual "Tiny-art" pieces and the ones not in the auction will be displayed in a glassed-in "Tiny gallery" in front of the New Berlin Cultural Center's new second partnering location, the Masonic Lodge.
Keller said the art classes provide both students and staff the opportunity to learn and express their creativity.
