OXFORD - On Tuesday, August 13, Commerce Chenango hosted a luncheon at the New York State Veterans Home at Oxford (NYSVHO). The Stadium Sports Bar and Grill provided lunch for attendees, including Commerce Chenango members and NYSVHO employees.
Large tents were pitched in the parking lot in preparation for the NYSVHO annual Family Picnic, staging the perfect venue for a luncheon. This luncheon was held in appreciation for veterans home staff for the work they do caring for the men and women who served our country, and for maintaining the impressive facility.
Administrator Kurt Apthorpe provided remarks before inviting the community into the home for tours. Long time employee Jennifer Scheuer has held many positions over her 20 years of employment at the NYSVHO, and used the knowledge she has gathered to provide comprehensive tours.
Commerce Chenango President & CEO Sal Testani has great pride in the New York State Veterans Home at Oxford, stating, “The Vets Home is a tremendous asset to Chenango County, we are fortunate to have a skilled nursing facility for such an important population right here in our backyard. We can’t thank Kurt, Jennifer, and the rest of the employees enough for the care they provide that makes this place so special.”
The day after the Commerce Chenango luncheon, the NYSVHO hosted a successful Family Picnic, inviting the families of residents to come visit their loved ones, their facility, and to celebrate with each other.
The New York State Veterans Home at Oxford is currently looking to recruit more staff in all areas (especially Nursing, Housekeeping, Food Service, Recreation, Billing Office) to help with their growth. To learn more about NYSVHO, visit their Facebook page at New York State Veterans' Home, Oxford.
