MORRIS - On Saturday, the Weaver's Farm Market invites the public to attend a Customer Appreciation Day.
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. there will be farmers, bakers, crafters and other vendors from across the area offering free tastings and demonstrations such as pottery making and black smithing. The store is located at 1272 East Side Road in Morris.
The market is dedicated to serving and supporting locally produced food and features a wide selection of healthy produce, groceries and a deli.
The business is owned and operated by Daniel Weaver and his family. The Weaver family is Amish, and opened the store in 2019 after having operated a successful farm stand for a few years.
“I just want to say thank you to all of you customers who have made this possible for us,” said Daniel Weaver.
The sales support the local community with part of the funds going to help the local Morris Amish church and school. The business also participates and supports other Morris groups, including the local volunteer fire department.
On Saturday the market will be giving out prizes to customers.
“Customer Appreciation Day is simply that,” said Weaver. “I want our customers to feel appreciated and my goal is that they can meet the local suppliers, they can talk to them, that they can network with them, talk with them and just get a feel of who we deal with.”
The market hosts about 60 local venders. The family moved here about 10 years ago.
”Put up a little roadside stand and we had quite a lot of customers come to that and our daughter ran that. And it was very obvious you know, there's no grocery store in Morris and there was a big need,” said Weaver.
“Buying produce that is local and organic is what we’re focused on,” said Weaver. “We’re honored to be a part of Morris, and we’re so grateful for each and every customer that’s come through our doors.”
Fresh seasonal food is provided at the store including, eggs, milk, honey, maple syrup, greens and are sourced from local area. That includes the Weaver farm, thanks to Daniel's son, Matthew Weaver. Matthew grows nutrient-dense organic vegetables, including beefsteak, heirloom and cherry tomatoes. He also grows wheat and many other items.
The store’s meat selection features locally raised beef, pork, chicken, and lamb. There is also area maple syrup, honey, jams and jellies for sale.
The market buys goods from the local vendors and then sells the items in the store. Fruits, vegetables, and baked goods, are provided year-round in the store. The vendors are primarily from Chenango, Otsego and surrounding counties, or are from farms located in central New York.
“One of the biggest excitements for people right now: we're getting bins of New York apples in the store,” said Weaver.
“For our customers we focus on providing personable customer service, cleanliness, and a quality product at a fair price,” said Weaver.
Weaver’s Market is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday and Friday; and closed Sunday and Monday.
The store only accepts payments of cash or check. Weaver’s Market can be contacted at 607-263-2030.
