COOPERSTOWN – The annual Otsego County Senior Picnic was held on Wednesday, August 21 at Glimmerglass State Pak. A lunch was provided by Mel’s at 22 with about 230 attending.

Many enjoyed the activities with a stroll along the lake and bingo after lunch. Helping with the event were about 13 volunteers as well as Dairy Promotion Ambassador Committee and Coordinator of event Carole Lachance of Otsego County Council of Senior Centers

Several agencies were present including Office of the Aging, Centers Health Care, Get There, Otsego County Department of Health with representatives to answer questions and provide free informational pamphlets. The Farmers Market coupons were available.

The Otsego County Dairy Ambassador, Hannah Bonczkowski of Otego along with Junior Ambassadors Allie Ruffles and Emma Ruffles of Edmeston and Kristina Barringer of Morris served ice cream for dessert for the American Dairy Promotion. Hanna spoke briefly on the importance of dairy, emphasizing on the 13 nutrients found in milk, which are essential benefits. She ended in saying “milk does the body good.”

Politicians attending were Assemblyman Brian Miller, Chris Tague and Joe Angelino, Senator Pete Oberacker, Otsego County Board Represenatives Keith McCarty and wife, Janet (who donated (2) 25 gift cards from Price Chopper fore BINGO prizes), Ed Frazier and wife Stephanie and Dan Wilber.

Sponsors making the event possible were Stewarts Shops, Cooperstown Center, Chobani, Nycm Insurance, Stagecoach Coffee, Hannaford, American Dairy Promotion, Hawkeyes , Cooperstown and Springfied Fire Departments.
