OXFORD — Recently, the non-profit group Promote Oxford Now (PON) received a house donation from BlueOx in Oxford. The house located at 52 North Washington was signed over to to the non-profit group with hopes for renovations and repairs to save the home and help bring a reasonable priced house to the local area.
The group realized there is a real need for reasonably priced housing in the community and moved forward with the donated house to fill that need.
The project is the newest agenda under the Improve Oxford Now housing project and PON President Sarah Smith said she looks forward to finishing this project to put it on the market in early spring 2025.
Smith said there were a few challenges but it has been worth it, especially when progress continued and a new roof was installed mid August.
“A few challenges were in getting three quotes per job and the hurry up and wait for them,” Smith added. “And the most difficult part for me was waiting on the grants to see what funding we would receive. I don’t like waiting so that was my challenge.”
When Smith contacted New York Roofers for the roof install, they said they wouldn’t be available until April of next year.
