Story Continues Below Adverts

Village Clerk Keith Van Althuis encourages the public to join and bring a candle to light during the walk in honor of the many family and friends taken too soon.

The hope is to live up to the expectation to 'never forget'.

"This service happened spontaneously on the day of 9/11 in 2001 and has continued every year after," said Van Althuis.

In past years, the Sherburne Fire Department and all fire departments of Chenango County came together to hold a fundraiser to provide assistance to Chenango County firefighters and their families during the disastrous hardship.

The Sherburne Fire Department is volunteer and provides Rescue Operations, Advanced Life Support (ALS) level ambulance service and Fire Suppression.
