Hi, all. I have been sports editor for the last two years and I hope you have enjoyed reading sports in the Evening Sun.
Today, the Evening Sun will publish the Fall Sports Preview in Thursday’s edition, that previews almost all the fall sports teams from Chenango County. So, please check it out and get to know this year’s players and what their team goals are for this season.
Thank you for all the support. Covering community sports is exciting and I try to work extra hard in making sure we cover absolutely everything we can. It’s very important to me to make sure the student-athletes get all the respect and praise for all the hard-work they do, along with the coaches, athletic directors, and families that support them.
For the past two years, I have watched the growth of the athletes, developed bonds with many teams and joined many of the coaches on the sidelines. Watching games live is one of things I love to do.
While it is fun to watch game-winning goals and touchdowns, nothing excites me more than seeing the smiles on the student’s faces and the appreciation of them seeing me at the games and saying hello and thanks for being here. It warms my heart the most.
I absolutely couldn’t do my job without the support of the coaches and the student-athletes who play their heart out every night. I also always tell people that I wish I could clone myself to be at every game, but always know I’m there in spirit as I have to spread the love to the eight schools in the county; Afton, Bainbridge-Guilford, Greene, Norwich, Otselic Valley, Oxford, Sherburne-Earlville, and Unadilla Valley, that I cover.
When you read the daily paper, I hope you take to heart all the hard-work and dedication of the student-athletes whether the game ends in a win or a loss. We do our best to work hard and get all the teams in the paper as soon as we can.
Thank you again for all your support! Hope to see you at a game real soon.
