NORWICH – About 300 Alvogen employees gathered in East Park in Norwich Friday morning to begin a day of community volunteerism. For the last 11 years, the company has closed its Norwich facility for a day and donated that work day to community volunteering instead. They work with other groups and the city to clean-up downtown and prepare Norwich for the upcoming fall and winter holidays. Norwich Pharmaceutical and Alvogen Representative Luke Murphy said the event takes place across the globe with local employees aiding about two dozen community groups including the SPCA and Norwich BID. “On this day, over 300 members of our team join forces with 25 organizations, to do a variety of projects from landscaping, painting, cleaning, building repairs and the list goes on,” said Murphy, “It’s a day we look forward to every year; giving back right here in Norwich.” (Photo by Tyler Murphy)
