OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawks boys soccer tournament kicked off over the weekend with exciting first round games that both went into the second period of overtime and a neighboring Oxford-Norwich championship game that filled the stands on Saturday. The tournament also featured Sidney and Whitney Point. Sidney defeated Whitney Point 5-0 in the consolation game. Congratulations to Oxford’s Donovan Rickard, Kayden Renfrow, Sam Hendricks, Norwich’s Wyeth Stafford, Jett Terry, and Andrew Mirabito on receiving all-tournament honors.

Friday’s games:

Norwich 5 - Whitney Point 4 F/OT

After both teams tied 4-4 after regulation, the game went into overtime, which the teams needed the second 10 minute half of extra time to decide this game. Norwich’s Cameron Moore scored the game-winner within two minutes into the second period of overtime. Wyeth Stafford netted two goals as Liam Ballin and Pierce Sherman, with a long shot about 10 to 15 yards out, both added one goal each.
