NORWICH — The Achieve Envisions Center in downtown Norwich will be hosting their first annual 5K run/walk on Sunday, October 27.
The event will begin with a Half-Mile "Rock Around the Block" Fun Run/Walk at 9:30 a.m. The fun run starts and ends at Envisions, located at 27 Griffin Street in Norwich, and is $15 per person.
At 10 a.m., the "Halloween Hustle" 5K will begin, also starting at the Envisions center. The route is an official chip-timed race certified by USA Track and Field (USATF).
"We had to hire an official USATF certifier. They have to be certified themselves in order to do this job, and we pay them to come out, and they go on a bike or by foot and they have a device that they use to measure the course, and it has to be exactly 3.10 miles for it to be a certified course, because when you’re running every single second matters with your finish time," explained Achieve Vice President of Development Lila Balliett. "That’s why we thought it was an important thing to do, so that we could try to get more serious runners to come out to Norwich for it."
Registration for the 5K is $30 for individuals, or $150 for a group of five. To register for the half-mile fun run or the 5K, visit AchieveNY.org/achieve-events/halloween-hustle-5k.
