SPENCER – Coming off a comfortable win against Walton, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats football team traveled to Spencer Van Etten/Candor on Friday, where they strived in the second half to win a close 28-24 game.
“ After last week’s emotional win, we made the long trip to Spencer Van Etten,” B-G head coach Art Rigas said. “The kids looked flat and the other team came to play to start, but the kids made a decision, played defense, and made crucial plays on offense. They came together and stood out as a second half team .”
After being held scoreless in the first quarter and down 18 to 6 at halftime, the Bobcats held SVEC to six points in the second half and scored 22 points, with 14 in the fourth quarter alone, and stood their ground defensively.
“We were down by 10 points at one time and then rose to the occasion with a big fourth quarter,” Rigas said.
B-G was powered by a big rush game from Kaiden Seymour, who had 21 carries for 119 yards and scored one touchdown. Connor Davy ran the ball seven times for 47 yards. He threw for two touchdowns, both to Declyn Marshfield. Marshfield received the ball six times for 131 yards.
