SHERBURNE - This week, Commerce Chenango highlights a member offering a unique business model.

Softening Studio is an online healing arts space for intuitive self-care. Based in Sherburne, the studio offers astrology readings, energy work, meditation, special events, and more.

Softening Studio is owned by Julie Francis, an astrologer and writer. Francis is also co-owner of Black Willow Creek Farm in Sherburne. The studio opened in May of this year and is celebrating its grand opening now, with two special events scheduled for later this month. Softening Studio is currently a completely online business, but in the future, they will offer both in-person, online and hybrid events.

Story Continues Below Adverts

“Softening Studio is located on our family farm of 40-plus acres, Black Willow Creek Farm” says Francis. “Our farm includes scenic views, several trails to hike, access to two different creeks, and thriving plants and wildlife. It is the perfect setting to hold events and have retreats that help folks reconnect with nature and their inner wisdom while learning about herb, vegetable and flower gardening and cooking.” Francis enjoys the small-town, friendly nature of Sherburne, and having the support of her family and local clientele.

While Softening Studio does not have a physical location for clients to visit, they hope to open one in the future. The studio offers online classes and services that are available at varying times during the week and often include replays to watch at the client’s convenience.

Francis states, “Whether you're seeking astrology guidance or looking to deepen your self-care practices, Softening Studio provides the tools to support your journey toward healing, relaxation and wellness. We help you connect with your intuition and cultivate a compassionate, holistic approach to well-being.”

Making a positive impact on our community and the world is a priority for Softening Studio, according to Francis. “We donate a portion of profits from every session, class, workshop or event we host each quarter. 4% goes to Ocean Conservancy, Helping Hounds Dog Rescue, Chenango SPCA and Ignite Unity, and 1% of every purchase goes to Stripe Climate to help the earliest-stage carbon removal companies get out of the lab and into the field.”

Softening Studio offers free and paid events so participants can experience what they have to offer, such as: Astrology readings and mentoring, special events that focus on self-care and their monthly membership, dubbed Self-Care & Healing.

Francis is proud of their lively presence on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube and loves engaging with clients and community members on these platforms. Softening Studio invites community collaboration. If you are a teacher, mentor, healer or creator interested in offering a class, workshop or event at the studio you, can submit your collaboration application here: https://softeningstudio.com/lets-collaborate.
