NORWICH — To recognize Cyber Security Awareness Month, NBT Bank is bringing their Community Shred Day to Saturday in the Park with Chobani in Norwich's West Park on Saturday, October 5 from 9 a.m. to noon.
"We do them across NBT Banks’ footprint, but they’re an opportunity for anyone from the community to bring in any of their sensitive documents that they need to have securely disposed of," explained NBT Bank Director of Corporate Communications Florence Doller. "It’s really important, and of course it’s Cyber Security Awareness Month, so while our paper documents are not cyber, it’s still really important to dispose of things like that properly."
Shredding trucks will be in the park to shred and dispose of documents on-site for free. Doller said they ask community members to limit their papers and documents to five bags or boxes, to ensure everyone has the opportunity to utilize the service.
Volunteers from NBT will also be at the park to help individuals unload boxes and bags of papers and get them over to the shredder.
NBT has been hosting their Community Shred Days at Saturday in the Park for several years, and encourages local residents to take a look at old documents and bring in anything they no longer need.
