WATERVILLE – After a tough match-up against Cortland, the Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves football team hosted Onondaga at Waterville High School, while construction is still ongoing at Sherburne-Earlville.
Steve Franklin’s team is making the best of the situation of being on the road the whole time until their home turf is ready and appreciates the fans coming out in support, even with having to travel a bit further than normal for home games. S-E held on 19-18 in a game that was down to the wire in the final minutes.
Franklin’s team didn’t get the start that they’d like to have and aimed to improve on from weeks prior, but both teams were off to a slow start with no score in the first quarter. S-E added 13 points on the board and took a 13-6 lead into halftime.
Onondaga powered through in the third quarter with a score to make it a one-score game 13-12, going into the fourth quarter. Franklin’s team wasn’t going down without a fight and sure enough added one more score as Nick Hull added a 26 yard run, but the two-point conversion was stopped. Hull, who broke new school records for receptions in a game and receiving yards in a game in the previous game vs Cortland, scored all three of S-E’s touchdowns on the night with two passes from Hadden Price and the rush. Hull had five receptions for 115 yards and 13 carries for 63 yards on the ground.
