SIDNEY – Going into Friday night’s match-up against Sidney was weighing on the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats football team all week, since the two neighboring teams have built themselves a fierce rivalry, even with being in different classes. Both teams came ready to play with B-G keeping their unbeaten streak alive with a 36-18 victory. B-G is tied with Deposit-Hancock, whom they will see in the next two weeks, to lead the Section IV, Class D division.
B-G had a strong run game, scoring all five touchdowns on the ground. Connor Davy had 12 carries for 141 yards and scored three touchdowns while Isaiah Hampton had nine carries for 100 yards, and two touchdowns.
Aside from the strong offense, B-G’s Chris Moyer, Tim Kinter, Anthony Pfaff, and others came up big on defense with six or more tackles. Pfaff led the Bobcats with 12 tackles. Ryan Larsen had two sacks and Kinter sacked the quarterback once. The defense also recovered three interceptions, where Davy picked off two and Kyle Patton one.
“We just had big plays at the right times and were strive killers on defense,” B-G head coach Art Rigas said. “It was an emotional game where the kids played great and our run game was on and our offensive line was blocking well.”
