NY Troopers Respond To Fatal Crash In Morris

MORRIS - On Tuesday, October 1, at approximately 4:11 p.m., the New York State Police at Oneonta, the Morris Fire Department and EMS, along with the Otsego County EMS, responded to a single vehicle crash on State Highway 23 in the Town of Morris.

An investigation at the scene determined that the operator of the vehicle attempted to avoid a deer and went off the roadway, crashing into a fence post then went into a ditch off Bourne Hill Road.   

The driver of the vehicle,  Michael Welsh, 65, of Cooperstown, did not survive. 

The passenger,  Margaret Welsh, 74, of Cooperstown, was transported to Bassett Hospital by Morris EMS for non-life-threatening injuries.
