NORWICH — Recently, concerned residents came together to create a fundraiser to support a couple who have a history of donating to the community. They have an unofficial organization named, Paying it Forward/Norwich on facebook and work with local charities.
The couple is seeking donations so they can repair a damage roof in their home.
The benefit will be hosted by Mary Mireider, Denise Brasiel and Heidi Moore from 1 to 5 p.m., November 2, at the Elks Club, located at 14 East Main Street in Norwich and will include a Chinese Auction, bake sale and 50/50 raffle.
Live music will be performed by The Hurka and Jojo Show. Admission will be $5 per person.
“The event is to raise funds to replace a roof at Paying it Forward/Norwich,” said area resident and Benefit Host Denise Brasiel.
“The Paying it Forward organization was founded by Mema and Bear Planty, she explained. “They take in donations from the community and offer those items back to people in need.”
Brasiel said the roof over their laundry room has a hole in it and if not fixed, they’ll definitely lose one of the most important factors of their organization, a place to wash items that come in for redistribution.
“Mema has helped so many people in the area and we hope we can return the support they need for their organization,” Brasiel said.
