NORWICH — All residents, business owners, and community leaders are invited to attend the meeting of the 2050 Vision Plan Draft, to review and offer feedback for future guidance in decision-making and investing in Chenango County.

The exchange will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m., October 16, at 15 South Broad Street in the Commerce Chenango Building.

The planning process invited Chenango County residence and stakeholders the opportunity to complete a survey that included several key topics such as community health and wellbeing, innovative infrastructure, economic opportunity, and sustainable living and rural environment.

“The purpose of this Open House is to provide attendees with the opportunity to review and comment on the Draft Vision Plan before it is referred to the County Board of Supervisors,” said Shane Butler, Chenango County Director of Planning.

He said AARP just released their 2024 Livability Index Scores Nationwide, and Chenango County scored a 47 out of 100.

“We want to be able to utilize the Chenango County 2050 Vision Plan to improve upon these scores in the future, but we really want community input on the Draft Plan,” said Butler. “Community support of the plan is absolutely necessary in order to carryout this community vision and make Chenango County a better place to live, work and play.”

He said members of the consultant team, along with the County Planning and Development Staff will be present to answer any questions and document feedback. Written feedback can be made on comment cards at provided Topic stations.

“Attendees may come and go as their schedule allows,” he added.

Butler said if you can't attend the Open House, he encourages the community to review copies of the 2050 Vision Plan draft on the project website www.chenangocounty2050.com and submit comments on the form found there or visit the County Offices in person.

The Chenango County Planning and Development Department is located at 5 Court Street in Norwich.
