NORWICH – After a pre-game rallied bonfire the night before and the excitement around homecoming weekend, the Norwich Purple Tornado football team came away with a big 41-6 victory over rivals Oneonta. Norwich pounced and held Oneonta to a lone touchdown pass in the first quarter before firing up offensively with 34 points in the first half alone. The Purple Tornado added one more touchdown in the second half.

"It was a special win, especially with homecoming and the rivalry," Norwich head coach Mike Chrystie said. "Our goal is always to be undefeated at home and we have done that so far. Everyone continued to step up and do their jobs in the team effort win."

The Purple Tornado offense scored on almost every drive, except for two with a turnover on downs and a missed field goal. Norwich also saw another great game for Kassen Stubb and Braden Hagenbuch. Hagenbuch led the team with 205 yards on the ground with two touchdowns while Stubb caught the ball six times for 105 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Steven Dowdall also rushed for two touchdowns and went 8-for-11 in completions with 143 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, including one to Zack Parker on the first drive.

"As a head coach, I'm fortunate to have a dual threat quarterback and great weapons each and every week," Chrystie said. "Hagenbuch has had a good stretch of games and it's been great to see Kassen step it up for us."
