CHENANGO COUNTY - The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is currently asking for the public’s assistance with locating Donald A.J. Shurock Jr, date of birth of 5-15-1984.
Chenango County Sheriff's Office Detective Sgt. and Union President Chad O'Hara said a $500 award was being offered for information that directly leads to the capture of Shurock.
On October 17, 2024 a Chenango County deputy was called to a location on State Highway 26 in the Town of Pitcher for a suspicious vehicle complaint.
Upon arriving on scene, the deputy identified one of the occupants of the vehicle as Donald A.J. Shurock Jr., who has active warrants for his arrest. When the deputy attempted to take Shurock into custody, Shurock resisted arrest and fled the scene on foot, causing the deputy to sustain physical injury.
Additional officers and EMS arrived on scene and the deputy was transported to a local hospital and treated for a non-life threatening injury. The deputy has since been released from the hospital.
Additional members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and members of the NYS Police searched the area and could not locate Shurock. Shurock was last seen on State Highway 26 in the Town of Pitcher.

Shurock is described as a white male, approximately 5’8” tall, weighing approximately 165 pounds, having bald/short brown hair, a brown beard and mustache. At the time of the incident, Shurock was wearing a black winter hat, a blue/gray Carhartt jacket, jeans, and boots.
In addition to the active arrest warrants, Shurock is now wanted on charges of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
