Danielle Miraglia And Marc Douglas Berardo Team Up For 6OTS Concert
Published: October 25th, 2024

OXFORD — 6 On The Square, Oxford’s acoustic listening room, will host a double bill with singer/songwriters Danielle Miraglia and Marc Douglas Berardo at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 26.

Miraglia’s performance continues this fall’s Women Songwriter Series at 6OTS, which highlights some of the best women performers on the folk/acoustic circuit today.

Miraglia comes armed with a strong, steady thumb on an old Gibson and an infectious stomp-box rhythm with tunes ranging from heartfelt to socially conscious.

Her 2020 album, “Bright Shining Stars,” debuted at #15 on the Billboard Blues Charts. The solo acoustic folk/blues record highlights the one-woman-band live sound she’s honed over the years, featuring guest appearances by talented friends Laurence Scudder, Peter Parcek, and Richard "Rosy" Rosenblatt.

The record includes originals as well as a collection of songs she’s been covering at live shows over the years, paying homage to influences like Big Bill Broonzy, Bob Dylan, and Janis Joplin, plus the title track "Bright Shining Stars," written by her husband, Tom Bianchi.

Berardo shares songs that mine the deep feelings and lessons gleaned from real-life characters and situations, while his onstage presence uses humor and deft storytelling to rally an audience. His style brings to mind James Taylor, Jimmy Buffett, Guy Clark, or Steely Dan, with a touch of Mark Twain or Hunter S. Thompson.

Berardo’s sharply drawn, award-winning song portraits cast a net on unusual and beguiling characters and places. With a painter’s eye for detail and music firmly rooted in the great American sound, Berardo sings about circus retirees, expatriates in Florida rum bars, union iron workers, old poets, aimless New York City debutantes, near-death car crashes, hard-nosed fishermen, and the changes that experience brings to everyone.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door; purchase at 6onthesquare.org or call 607-843-OTS6 (6876) to make a reservation. Doors open one hour before the start of performances. Concerts will also be streamed live online for $10; more information at 6onthesquare.org.
