NORWICH – A Town of Otselic resident was arrested on Oct. 12 following a pursuit through Chenango County, during which he allegedly endangered other motorists and resisted arrest.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office apprehended 41-year-old Benjamin R. Bishop after receiving reports of road rage involving a vehicle allegedly driven by Bishop, who reportedly forced another vehicle off the road in the Town of Sherburne. Additional calls described Bishop as tailgating and cutting off other vehicles.

Sheriff’s deputies located Bishop in Norwich and attempted a traffic stop, but he allegedly fled, leading authorities on a pursuit during which he struck multiple vehicles before his own vehicle was disabled. Bishop attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after deputies deployed a taser. He was later processed and released on appearance tickets.

Bishop faces charges of reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing, and resisting arrest, misdemeanors, along with several traffic citations. He is scheduled to appear in the courts of Sherburne, Norwich, and the City of Norwich.

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent of the charges unless proven guilty in a court of law.
