BAINBRIDGE – With the season on the line, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats football team knew Friday night’s game against the 3-time State champions, Tioga would be one of the biggest challenges yet. The Bobcats rose to the occasion, despite falling in a tight 35-28 game, which sends Deposit/Hancock and Tioga to the playoffs and B-G finishing in third place in Section IV, Class D.
“If there had been two divisions, we would be in,” B-G’s head coach Art Rigas said. “We finished 6-3. It was a great year and the kids played their heart out. The seniors were great role-players and all great contributors.
Congratulations to Anthony Pfaff, Tim Kinter, Elliott Briggs, Kaiden Seymour, Declyn Marshfield, Aiden Vermilyea, Blaise Loya.
Rigas said it was a great game, where the Bobcats outplayed Tioga in the second half. However, Tioga took a big 21-6 and led 21-12 at the break. Both teams added two more scores in the second half, with B-G success of converting on two-point tries but being outscored in the first quarter alone put a damper in the Bobcats chance at making the playoffs.
Connor Davy had three touchdowns from the ground as B-G rushed for 16 carries at 179 yards. Davy also passed 11-for-15 attempts for 154 yards with one receiving touchdown to Declyn Marshfield. Marshfield picked up 105 yards on the kickoff return and totaled 211 yards on the night.
