JAMESVILLE-DEWITT – After defeating Onondaga 20-12 in the first round of the Section III, C2/D2 playoffs, the Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves football team traveled to Jamesville-Dewitt High School to face Phoenix in the championship game. The game was a back-and-forth affair until Phoenix had the upper-hand late in the second half to win 48-25. S-E had lost to the Firebirds 38-13 in the regular season. Despite a season of adversity and hurdles, S-E put up a good battle to the finish.

It was also the second year of the C2/D2 division, where S-E made it to the title game for the second straight year with a different group of players and finished 4-6 to end the 2024 season.

Phoenix took an early 14-0 lead after the first quarter. One touchdown was set up after recovering a fumble on special teams where the ball came loose after being caught by S-E’s Tomek Jusianec when he was being tackled down. Down by two scores, S-E drove down the field and answered back with a score of their own to start the second quarter, making it a one score game as Nick Hull scored his first of three touchdowns on the night.
