QUEENSBURY – The 2024 cross country season concluded on Saturday with several local runners competing in the NYSPHSAA cross country championships held at Queensbury High School. Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville brought seven strong girls to the meet while Norwich had Caden Sutton, UV/GMU with Andrea Favinger, and even another close to home athlete, Madison Moore competing for Edmeston/Morris. Congratulations to all athletes on wrapping up a great season.

BGAH girls:

After winning their second straight sectional title, the BGAH girls finished 11th in the Class C championships. Maddie Ingham paved the way with a 73rd place finish as Lelaenia Baldwin finished 88th and set a new best time of 22:04.10. Senior Vanessa Brazee came in 102nd place with a time of 22:43.10 as Jalyn Winans finished 110th and Laila Williams in 118th. Marissa Mayo (128th) and Ruth Wilson (129th) rounded out the girls.

“ It was a great experience for them and the weather was great,” Coach Nick Mayo said on the team’s behalf. “We are a young team that will hopefully get another shot next year. We had a few really good performances but collectively didn’t have the firepower to compete with the other team that were there, yet. Winning another sectional title was our big goal, especially after losing such a huge part of our program with Ethne Degan graduating last year.”

Mayo expects a great group of girls as well as boys as the team moves ahead to the indoor track season.
