NEW BERLIN - The New Berlin Library Board Elections will take place from December 2 through December 17 in the Library Circulation Room. Ballots will be counted during the Library Board Meeting on December 18 at 6 p.m.

This year, two trustee positions are on the ballot. These are five-year terms, running from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2029. To serve on the Library Board, candidates must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid New Berlin Library Card, and reside in or own property within the New Berlin Library chartered service area, which includes New Berlin, Pittsfield, or Columbus.

The 2024 candidates are Darla Smith and Angelic Schmidt, both incumbents running unopposed. To be eligible to vote, individuals must be 18 years or older and possess a valid New Berlin Library Card.

The New Berlin Library will host a Christmas Party on Saturday, December 14, at 2 p.m. Festivities include children’s Christmas stocking painting, photos with Santa, cupcakes, and hot cocoa. Sponsored by the New Berlin Art Forum, this free event is open to the public, but registration is required to ensure adequate supplies.

The library is also holding a Holiday Freewill Rummage. Items have no set prices; instead, donations are accepted to benefit the library. The rummage sale is located in the Circulation Room and will run through December 23.

Recent additions to the library’s collection include Robert B. Parker’s Hot Property (A Spenser Novel) by Mike Lupica, The Coming of the Golden Age: 31 Ways to Be Kingdom Ready by Dr. David Jeremiah, and several titles from The Last Kids on Earth series by Max Brallier, including The Forbidden Fortress, The Monster Dimension, The Cosmic Beyond, The Skeleton Road, The Doomsday Race, The Midnight Blade, The Zombie Parade, and The Nightmare King.
