NORWICH – The Norwich YMCA Dolphins Swim Team honored senior Kris Deuel at his last home meet for the Dolphins on November 23, during a dual meet with the Oneonta Orcas. Kris was recognized for his 12-year long swimming career, academic aspirations for marine biology, and for the many great qualities he brings to the team.
“Kris brings an infectious energy to the pool, whether it be for a meet or practice. He knows when to be serious and when to have fun and sets a great example for our younger generation of swimmers.”
Kris, along with other Dolphins athletes produced about 45 seconds of time drops, racked up 25 best times, and saw even more swimmers recently added to the Dolphins roster complete events for the first time.
The roster has now grown to 33 swimmers. Adding to the accolades, the 9-10 Girls, 13-14 Boys, and age 15 & over boys won for their respective age groups. The team can now look forward to a small break from meets for the Thanksgiving holiday season and turn their focus back to technique and conditioning.
“The beginning to this season has been grueling and the athletes have held up well. Many are exploring, and enjoying, other events and distances that are diversifying the team’s abilities. This small break is needed and during this time, athletes will be taking their accomplishments to develop goals that will help drive the remainder of their season.”
