OXFORD - Gift giving during the holidays is a form of nourishment. It’s the way we express our love and gratitude for those we work with and live with, our friends and neighbors, those who raised us and those we are raising.

What if the gifts we gave at this time of year also nourished the farms and businesses and artisans who offer those them? Buying locally, we can give forward and give back at the same time. And living, as we do, in an agricultural community makes that such a delicious exchange.

You can find these nourishing offerings of locally-produced food for your table and locally-made gifts for under the tree at this Saturday's last indoor Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market of the holiday season. From the freshest seasonal veggies and mushrooms to locally raised pork, lamb and chicken; from home-baked breads and cookies to the eggs, butter, maple syrup, honey and jam to top them off. From the wreath on your door to the apron and potholders you pull off before sitting down to a home-made meal. Every last item brought to you by the hands of your neighbors. This is the magic brought to us by our area farmers’ markets.

Stop by the Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market this Saturday for  the last  indoor  Market before the end of the year,10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the  Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Oxford, 16 Fort Hill Park. Enter on Merchant Street, across from the Middle School parking lot, where there is plenty of parking.
