COVENTRY - On Tuesday, December 3, the New York State Police at Sidney arrested Patricia M. Crossman, 73, of Greene.

Crossman was charged with 21 counts of the  Agriculture and Markets Law - (AGM § 353) Overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper sustenance (a misdemeanor).

The arrest stems from an investigation where the New York State Police and the Susquehanna SPCA removed 21 cats from a property in Chenango County.

On November 12, investigators were advised of a possible animal cruelty case at a home on State Route 206 in the town of Coventry. Police visited the home and determined that the cats were living in deplorable conditions within the home and in surrounding buildings on the property.

The cats were removed with the assistance of the Susquehanna SPCA on November 13 and will be receiving further medical care from the Susquehanna SPCA.   The Chenango County District Attorney's Office also assisted in the investigation.

Crossman was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Coventry Town Court on December 18.
